The final four
These were the last round games which had bearing on the final outcome. Chris and Ed had drawn in the second round and entered the final round with 2.5 points. Mike had won all three previous games and was at 3 points. I had lost to Chris and was at 2 points. So if Mike beats Chris he is the winner. With a draw against Chris, either Mike wins if Ed loses or draws. If I had beat Ed, I would have been in second with 3 points, possibly tied for second if Chris won or there was a draw. As it ended, Ed and Chris won. Sri played a strong tournament and after losing to me in round one, won 3 straight and ended up in the fourth place spot.
Twinsburg Chess Club Open Tournament 01/22/2011
Ed Prochak and Chris Coutts tied for first in our second tournament. Results are below.
Chris Coutts 3.5
Ed Prochak 3.5
Mike Thain 3.0
Sri Muvva 3.0
Jon Squire 2.0
Robert Jones 2.0
Keith Kubach 2.0
Allen Petrov 1.0
Sameer Shah 0.0
Chris played Mike for first place in the last round. If Mike won, he won the tournament (and the Payday candy bar). If Mike drew, Mike and Ed tied for first and if Chris won, which he did, Chris and Ed tied for first.
I will be posting the games from this tournament in subsequent posts. I hope to have all games up, but I know with the time constraints we are missing some endgames. A great tournament and some very good games.

Jon v Deltcho
Here is our second game. I was able to come back after getting behind in the late middle game. My threat of sacrificing my Bishop from c2 to eliminate his pawn structure in front of his king allowed my queen to get a string of checks on him to get into a position where he ended up losing his knight in the corner, leading to an endgame advantage. Please feel free to comment and point out anything we have missed.
Deltcho v Jon
This is the first game Deltcho and I played, and he caught me off guard from the start. I don't have the end of the game because I lost track during the game, and it was lost at this point anyway. We have discussed some of the flaws, but please feel free to further dig in.
