I have just read "The Immortal Game A History of Chess" by David Shenk, which is a great book which follows the game from it's earliest known origins some 1500 years ago with hand carved pieces to modern day with curriculum in schools and Grandmasters playing supercomputers.

Shenk highlights this game which is known as the immortal game. Anderson plays a daring and inventive game, risking everything to checkmate the black King. It is a great example of initiative and risk/reward. A miscalculation would have sent him straight to a loss, but he played it perfectly.

I would recommend this book to anyone who appreciates the game of chess, it is a great read.
