Here is a game Chris and I played tonight. As you can see e4 was our own little O.K. Corral. The game ended with black resigning due to the black king being tied to defense of the a pawn. My thoughts were to bring my knight to the king side and try to force a pawn move, which would lead to me advancing a pawn. And Chris pointed out that a4 would free up my king to go pawn hunting because if Kxc3, my a pawn walks to promotion, so the king can only sit and watch.

  1. By move 23 black's queenside pawns looked like a steamroller but white's knight not only held them at bay but eventually turned the tide.
    Nicely done. It's hard to get the knight positioned properly in endgames. The darn thing just jumps around too much.

  2. Yeah Joe, I love the pawn structure black had there. At that point white was up one pawn in material (a knight to 2 pawns) but that knight became active and turned very strong.
