Deltcho v Jon

This is the first game Deltcho and I played, and he caught me off guard from the start. I don't have the end of the game because I lost track during the game, and it was lost at this point anyway. We have discussed some of the flaws, but please feel free to further dig in.

  1. Instead of recapturing on move 6 with dxe5, what if
    5..... Bxf3
    6 QxB Nxe5
    7 Qb3 Nxc4
    8 Qxc4
At this point White's supporting cast has been eliminated.

In the game I was looking at white ended up winning, but in 60 moves.

  2. Actually Joe, during the game, my thought was to capture the pawn with my knight. 5...Nxe5. For some odd reason I took with the pawn, and shook my head.

  3. Chris has a good observation. I saw the tipping point on Jon's next move 6....Nd4 I think that was getting a little too aggressive before completing development. maybe 6....Bd6
which defends the e5 pawn, avoids the queen exchange and develops a piece. It doesn't stop Bf7+

wait you need to take the knight. That blunts the Bishop attack. So something like
    6 O-O Bxf3
    7 Qxf3 Nf6
    seems defend-able from there.
