I should have played 37... Bh2. I sacrificed the bishop with Bd3+ trying to get white's king away from e1. But I overlooked that his bishop could cover the queening square with Bb4. It worked out ok later when I brought my king up.
At that point, there was no stopping you having a very strong endgame advantage. You could have gone 39...e1=Q40. Bxe1,Rxe1 and been even on pawns with a Rook up in an easy to win endgame. The way you played it was well done as well. That sequence at move 32.b4, cxb3 e.p. was the deciding move. He should not have advanced that pawn, from there, his rook was sunk. The only out he had was 33.Ba3 which would have frozen that pawn and allowed the rook to become active. Nice win. Larry is quite a force to deal with. His attacking style is something you have to be cautious of. You controlled that game from the opening though.
Are you coming to the library on Thursday, April 14th?
THE TWINSBURG CHESS CLUB Twinsburg, Ohio
A chess club for all ages and levels. We play casual games every Saturday. We meet at the Twinsburg Public Library Summer hours 10:00 - 2:00 Non-Summer Hours 2:00 - 6:00.
This site is dedicated to the exploration of chess. I plan to post games that have been played at our club and present them in a format that will allow all of us to review and analyze our games. Feel free to email the moves from your games and I will post them. Just include who played white and who played black and I will put it into a viewer.
This way we can all get a chance to revisit our games and provide each other feedback and learn from each other.
